For 60 years, Relais & Châteaux has elevated art de vivre to a 10th art!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY 

On this day in 1954, Relais Chateaux was founded by the hoteliers and chefs of eight small independent properties in France. They joined forces to advertise their very different establishments – all charming in their own way, yet united by shared values – under the slogan “La Route du Bonheur” (The Road to Happiness).

From these humble roots, Relais & Châteaux has grown to 580 exceptional hotels and restaurants in over 60 countries.

Today we commemorate the heritage, passion and authenticity that our association represents. And we thank you – our beloved guests and followers – for being part of this meaningful movement, which represents a profound philosophy: empowering travelers to discover the world in the most beautiful way.
